My Italian Mother
OVERVIEW
The head of motion graphics for the New York Post invited me to help define a scalable, on-brand visual style for all of their animated editorial content. I was up for the challenge.
WHAT I WORKED ON–
Art direction, Style frames
THE OPPORTUNITY
They asked me to create a few frames based on an audio file that held a sample of story. This was a great opportunity for me to stretch some different muscles and experiment a bit.
STYLE FRAMES
The New York Post is bold, unapologetic, and defined by images they capture. Based on this I developed three frames that were a mix of collage, bold application of color, and subtle texture to create a sense of depth.
RESULTS
I introduced these frames with the intention of challenging the stakeholders' comfort zones and demonstrating potential areas for growth within the New York Post brand. Despite my efforts, the client ultimately chose a different style as the basis for their animated content.
